2016 Scholarships at the Lincoln Public Schools Foundation
The Foundation has always worked to provide LPS students with the means to reach for their dreams, and maximize their own potential. Over the years, many generous individuals, businesses, and organizations have established funds at the Foundation. Students are now able to apply online for over 90 scholarships through the Foundation for 2016 Scholarships at the Lincoln Public Schools Foundation at:

Maynard Jensen American Legion Memorial Scholarship Program
Deadline: March 1st, 2016
Eligibility: Must be sons/daughters, grandchildren or great-grandchildren, adopted or step-children of members of Department of Nebraska, The American Legion or POW, MIA, KIA, or any veteran that was a current Legion member at time of death. Must be a high school graduate or be earning sufficient credits to graduate from high school in spring of 2016.

All recipients of awards are honored at the annual Nebraska Academy of Sciences banquet in April.
Loren Eiseley Memorial Scholarship ($500)
Loren Eiseley was a scientist, author, and one of Nebraska’s great twentieth century naturalists. This scholarship is available to any Nebraska high school senior who has been accepted to an accredited college or university. The student must submit the following:
1. ___ 800–1,000 word essay that discusses Eiseley’s message of compassion for all organisms and humanity’s place in the universe
2. ___ Teacher recommendations
3. ___ Scholastic achievements
4. ___ List of at least two Eiseley essays read by the applicant
5. ___ Evidence of having been accepted to an accredited college or university
Marie and Howard J. Taylor Scholarship ($100)
Available to any Nebraska high school senior with a special interest in the geology of Nebraska and the study of geology. The student must submit the following:

- ___ Scholastic achievements
- ___ School and community activities related to earth sciences and special awards
- ___ Evidence of acceptance to a Nebraska college or university
Available to any Nebraska high school senior with special interest in prairie and soil conservation. The student must submit the following:
- ___ Evidence of prairie and soil conservation practices using field experience or an 800–1,000 word essay that demonstrates the
- ___ Teacher recommendations
- ___ Scholastic achievements
- ___ Evidence of acceptance at the University of Nebraska as a full-time student

Available to any Nebraska high school senior with an interest in climate and environmental change. The student must submit the following:
- ___ 800–1,000 word essay that discusses environmental changes that have taken place since the 1880’s in the central Great Plains

- ___ Evidence of acceptance at the University of Nebraska as a full-time student

Available to any high school senior from Nebraska or Henry County High School (Paris, TN) or Colegio San Felipe High School (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) with an interest in business and the environment. The student must submit the following:
